Tom Smyth was born in Manhattan and grew up on Long Island. He earned his undergraduate degree in international studies at Manhattan College in The Bronx, and his master’s in information systems from the University of Phoenix. Fresh out of college, he worked for Covenant House — a New York-based charity that serves homeless youth. His time there included a two-year stint in Honduras, where he became fluent in Spanish.
After a career change, Tom worked for 19 years with an investment advisor before landing his dream job at Bridgewater. He’s now our chief operating officer and chief compliance officer. Outside the office, Tom enjoys serving as a Trustee on his local school board.
